I don’t paint objects; I paint their emotions. My process begins not with a subject but with an image-feeling. For example, when working on one of my series, I recalled a specific day and the sensation it carried—it was yellow. Yellow was the mood, the atmosphere, the way the world felt, and, as a result, the image that emerged. I strive to have an open, honest, and effort less dialogue with the viewer—without pretension or grandiose statements. I want to speak freely and simply, unafraid to squeeze an entire tube of paint onto the canvas, to experiment with powder, varnish, and enamel, to avoid being confined to a single series or theme. My hope is that this same sense of freedom and ease comes through in my work and in the way it is perceived.
